8Bean was born out of a shared passion for creating something
truly unique and luxurious for moms on the go. It all began two years ago when
sisters Dawn and Janine realized they couldn’t find a baby changing mat that
met their high standards for style, quality, and functionality. Determined to
solve this, they decided to design their own.

What started as an idea turned into a labour of
love. Over two years, they went through countless design iterations—what looked
good on paper didn’t always work in practice. They experimented with various
types of leather, refusing to compromise until they crafted a product they
truly loved. The result? A high-end leather baby clutch changing mat that is as
practical as it is beautiful.

 Janine, based in Hilton, and Dawn, living in Umhlanga, brought
their unique skills and perspectives to 8Bean. Together, they’ve created more
than just a product—they’ve built a brand that celebrates quality,
craftsmanship, and the busy, stylish moms who inspire them.
